During summer, run your drip irrigation system in a single cycle of 30 to 90 minutes, three days a week. The length of each watering should be determined by the emitter flow rate, soil type and weather conditions. Experts agree that running drip irrigation less frequently is much better for plants than daily watering. See our drip watering tips for details.

For most of the country, the warmest day occurs sometime between mid-July and mid-August. The amount of solar radiation reaching Earth (in the northern Hemisphere) peaks at the summer solstice on June 21, but temperatures tend to keep increasing into July. The continued warming occurs because the rate of heat input from the sun during the day continues to be greater than the cooling at night for several weeks past the solstice, until temperatures start to descend in late July and early August.

The standard 6-week day camp program is for children 6-12 years old, as determined by age on September 1, 2023. Employees will find they are in for a really rewarding summer experience at Soaring. The fresh mountain air and the pristine forest environment are without comparison. Living on 180 private acres of land surrounded by the San Juan National Forest is unique as you are immersed in nature and the beauty of the mountains as you live and work in the same place. Staff does not need to worry about driving a car to get to work - everyone lives and works on the property together.

Living and working in a remote, wilderness environment can be a rewarding and life-changing experience. Because of our being a seasonal summer business, we attract many similarly-aged, extroverted, adventuresome individuals who are eager to make the most of their summer. With spotty cell service and no TV, staff members actually spend the majority of their free time with each other hiking, exploring, camping, and adventuring together.

Our staff works a five-day on, two-day off work week, which allows time to explore the amazing mountains and towns of the Southwest. Enjoy fishing, hiking, camping, 4-wheeling, and exploring the beauty of the Colorado mountains on your days off. Visit old mining towns like Silverton, Ouray, and Telluride and partake in the many local summer festivals, or explore old abandoned gold mines in the area. Durango is a dynamic college town, and many of our staff occasionally head into town to enjoy white water rafting, mountain biking, cafes, restaurants, and the ambiance and history of historic Durango.

Visit the Briscoe-Garner Museum to learn about two famous Texas politicians. Fort Inge, once a frontier fort and Texas Ranger camp, now hosts occasional star parties. Visit the Uvalde Visitors Center and the Frio Canyon Chamber of Commerce for more information.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There's a part of Jordan, in Scott County, that's both scenic and maybe a little scary. Imagine spending your summer days on top of a 100-foot cliff. It's a reality for the good folks at Sand Creek Adventures.

NSLA hosted a historic conference for nearly 1,000 education and civic leaders working to support youth, families, and communities at the national, state and local levels. They gathered to discuss how best to help students combat summer and Covid learning loss, and how to close the achievement and opportunity gaps that exist between higher and lower income students.

Busy kids are happy kids. Our summer camp sessions provide a structured and positive environment, keeping kids active and safe while at the same time giving them the opportunity to learn about building relationships with other kids and the world around them. Camp sessions are programmed with activities for kids that engage and inform.

In providing its after-school and summer camp programs and services to families, The Salvation Army is committed to accommodating all those in need without unlawful discrimination or harassment based on age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, marital status, disability, citizenship, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or any other characteristic in accordance with our capacity to help.

The Salvation Army offers a wide array of community programs to help cultivate brighter futures. Along with community centers, we provide summer camps and after-school programs for students of all ages, and numerous music, art, and athletic programs for aspiring youth.
